| Finance budget matrix
A major innovation coming with the new service pack 1 is the finance budget matrix. Budgeting is done here in the respective accounts. Therefore the web-based input of a budget and subsequent monitoring is more than easy to achieve as well as you can also simply delegate the budgeting process as a task for your individual departments.
Drawing up a budget in Microsoft Dynamics NAV is based on the chart of account. The number of accounts to be displayed here can be set variable.
For a much better visualization the inventory can be compared annual, quarterly, monthly, weekly or even daily. Within the matrix you are able to create entries directly or navigate trough by using a look-up icon. Once a click on the appropriate intersection of the matrix is performed a pop-up window will appear where individual budget items can be selected and assigned to the desired period. Monetary management made easy.

For instance the enhanced local search bar for using in lists is an ideal way to gain fast access within desired information in an accounts structure and even a combination of several search terms is included. That way, you gain more efficiency in finding suitable matches. The input fields will be shown directly below the field labels.

For a more user-friendly functionality it is now possible to display your search results in a tree view. The desired search term will then be filtered after typed into a search box. The displayed result can be selected and processed further.

Via the comfortable one-click deployment, you are now able to create complete portals easily and quickly already in the setup process. By using a batch file, templates can be defined within a portal structure and will be executed by running the IT IS active 2010 setup. Then the portal will be created with the preconfigured web part settings without any need for constructing it again. Especially on a frequent duplication of portal solutions and extensive sites the reduced time factor is enormous.
